Annual lift & inspection
All moorings in Sydney Harbour must be inspected annually. As most of the ware occurs at the sea bed the only effective solution is to have a mooring contractor lift & inspect your mooring.
Methodology
Here’s what goes into every mooring lift & inspection we conduct:
- Vessel is fendered suitably & tied alongside our mooring barge
- Mooring is transferred to our lifting winch and buoy cleaned & removed
- Mooring rope is water-blasted clean of all marine growth
- Photographs are taken of each part of mooring apparatus
- Original position of mooring is marked with datum & GPS recorded
- Mooring chain & block is lifted to the surface, cleaned & photographed
- Condition of all parts is recorded in written report
- Any parts worn beyond 30% of their original diameter or showing excess chaffing, electrolysis or rust are replaced
- Photos are taken of any new parts installed
- Mooring is positioned back where it came from & lowered
- A sticker is applied to buoy advising of next service date
- Mooring is transferred and your vessel cleaned of any footmarks
- Photos taken of position of your vessel after lift & inspection
Reporting
When the job is done, we bring the information to you.
- You will receive a call from our office advising of work done & amount
- A written report & photos will be emailed to you with your invoice
- In most cases payment is processed each Wednesday via credit card

Quoted rates include the first 30 mins barge & labour hire. In most cases this is enough time to conduct a lift & inspection. All parts & time thereafter are charged separately.
